Redact personal information in photos

Cover names, addresses and phone numbers in photos or screenshots and save a new PNG. Select by dragging or by pixel coordinates.

One JPEG, PNG or WebP: up to 20 MiB, 16 megapixels and 8,192 px per edge. Animated images are not supported.

Images are processed in this browser, without upload or automatic storage. The original stays unchanged.

Use solid black for information that must not remain readable. Pixelation can leave clues to the original content.

    How to use it

Choose a photo or screenshot, then drag over the information you want to cover. Include a small margin around letters and look for the same details elsewhere in the image. For precise selection, enter X and Y from the top-left corner and the area width and height. Delete a mistaken area from the list or undo the change. The cover style applies to every area. Selecting another file clears the previous selection.

    Before saving

This tool covers selected image pixels. It does not inspect hidden text or other pages in PDF or office documents. Notifications, profile pictures, QR codes, file names and backgrounds can also reveal information. Solid black replaces the selected area with opaque pixels; it does not automatically find every personal detail. Review the entire image and clearly distinguish the edited file so you do not accidentally send the original too.
